The climate of the zone inhabited by the Araona is characterized by having a "dry" season that starts in the month of May until October, and a "rainy" season that goes from November until April. During the dry season there are sporadic cold fronts called "surazos", where the temperature drops and is, complemented by a considerable level of humidity. The winds of these fronts average 50 km/h. This Surazo is a cold wind blowing from Patagonia and the Argentine Pampa which has its origin further south.


HOW TO GET TO THE ARAONA


AIR ROUTE:


Access is by single engine airplane from Riberalta to Puerto Araona which has a small dirt airstrip.

WATER ROUTE


Puerto Araona may be reached by Navigating the River Manupare and Madre de Dios to Riberalta. However this route is long and takes many days, more still if against the current.
